Dr. Dwight Streit
Dwight Streit is distinguished professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Chair of the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also Director of the UCLA Engineering Institute for Technology Advancement, where he helps capture multi-disciplinary research programs and promote faculty and student entrepreneurship. In this role he has helped launch over thirty companies using UCLA-developed technology. He was previously Vice President for Electronics and Sensors at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, Vice President for Technical Development at Northrop Grumman Space Technology, Vice President and Technical Fellow at TRW Space & Electronics, and President of Velocium, a TRW Company. He has served on multiple government advisory boards, including as Chair of the Army Research Labs Sensors and Electron Devices Technical Assessment Board, Chair of the ARO Materials Science Board of Visitors, Chair of the Joint Forces Training Base Restoration Advisory Board, and as a member of the AFRL Materials and Sensors Advisory Panel, the DoD Joint IED Defeat Organization, the Naval Studies Board Panel “Future of Naval Space Systems” and the U.S. Special Operations Command Standing Committee. He currently serves on the Committee of Visitors for the NSF ECCS Division and as Chair of the UCLA Research Innovation Task Force. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of IEEE and AAAS, and has over 400 publications and conference presentations. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA in 1986, and was the UCLA Engineering Alumnus of the Year in 2003.
