MAJ Eric Roles, USA

Major Eric Roles is the Commander, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Major Roles graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2017, where he led execution of the DARPA and SOCCENT sponsored Remote Advise and Assist (RAA) project. The RAA technology enabled U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) to team with Coalition and Iraqi SOF to help defeat the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, liberating Iraqi people and territory once held by violent extremists. Major Roles has deployed and led soldiers in ground combat with the 101st Airborne Division, 75th Ranger Regiment, and 3rd Special Forces Group. He has extensive experience serving in Special Operations Task Forces operating in Afghanistan, Iraq and Southwest Asia. Major Roles recently returned from leading members of his command during operations in Niger and Northern Africa. Major Roles holds a Bachelor of Science in Military Art and Science from the United States Military Academy, and a Master of Science in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School.
