Mr. James Allburn

Mr. Allburn, while serving in the US Air Force, was assigned to the DARPA Tactical Technology Office (TTO) from July 1980 to June 1986. Prior to DARPA, he was a combat fighter pilot, flight instructor, and assistant professor of aeronautics at the USAFA. In TTO he was the Assistant Director while acting as the Program Manager for numerous advanced aircraft programs. The most notable of which were the X-29, and the X- 31 highly maneuverable thrust vectored aircraft program, a joint US and German aircraft technology demonstration program.


Following his retirement for the USAF and on leaving DARPA he joined SRS Technologies, and helped it grow from a small business to a 700 person diversified high technology company providing aerospace services, technologies and products, to government and commercial clients. He was the president and COO when it was acquired in 2007. Jim remained with the acquired company until 2010. He currently consults with a startup companies providing secure communications for first responders. He resides in Williamsburg with his wife Gail.


Jim is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy with a BS in Engineering, advanced degree in Aeronautics from Stanford University and an MBA from Auburn University.
